In 1977, the Zadi Masjid Unit of Islamic Study Circle, J&K, founded Bait-ul-Maal, Islamic Study Circle, Zadi Masjid as per the constitutional guidelines. Its operations were limited first to Safakadal Localoity and then to the Shehr-e-Khaas (Old Srinagar), but with the passage of time its ambit was increased. The Bait-ul-Maal was thus renamed as Imdaad Foundation with the permition of President, Islamic Study Circle, J&K. The donor base was also enlarged. Now the Imdaad Foundation operates in entire Srinagar with areas of the adjacent districts. The beneficiaries are mostly helped in cash on monthly basis, as one-time assistance or on need basis. People who are assisted include poor, destitute, sick, orphans, widows, disabled etc. The thrust areas include monthly assistance, rehabilitation, medical care, emergency, adoption for education etc.
